When the Preeminent died, it dragged every other thing it could reach down with it. Including the one girl who went fishing with her dad and fell overboard. No one saw her as she was already ten feet under the water when the Preeminent grabbed her. Her soul was meant to leave for the realm of the departed as she had been a metaphorical "angel" her entire life. The girl couldn't accept her life was over. She had hopes, dreams, an entire adventure planned out and she would never get to do any of it. So, she refused to depart, unknown to the torture she doomed herself to - Purgatory.
