Damon Salvatore is left heartbroken when Elena and Stefan force him to leave town. While on the run, he is captured and tortured by a group of rogue werewolves who harbor a deep hatred for him due to his killing of their alpha, Mason Lockwood. Tyler Lockwood, one of the werewolves, takes part in the torment. Despite the severe torture, Damon manages to escape, but his freedom is short-lived as he soon encounters Klaus, the Original Hybrid. Finding Damon broken and scared, Klaus surprisingly decides to show him kindness.
