"You shouldn't be here," I whisper-yelled to him. "I shouldn't," he agrees. "I should let them kill you," I added as he began to walk slowly towards me. "You should," he tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear," But you won't." I'm about to argue that I will when he brings his lips down to meet mine in a slow, thought-halting kiss. Then another. Then another. ____ Do you know what death is like? I do. I've lived through a million deaths a million ways, it's all the same. There is no angel standing next to you to help you up, no bright light, just a cold feeling followed by something I can only describe as numb. I can't complain though, I was born to see these things. I was born to see death and to stop it. That's what oracles do. So when I foresee the death of the entire wolf race, I need to find a way to stop it. Only to find out that the one who ends the race is, in fact, my own mate. Can I find it in my heart to let him be killed? Or can I stop the end from coming another way?
