Part I: In the Outers

Captain Reck Dorn lives in a world parallel to earth that has been decimated by the Tech War. The terrain of Neospes is toxic and uninhabitable, but small pockets of human civilization survive in domes. Everything else in the Outers is a wasteland, where only one kind of inhuman creature can survive.

Half-android, half-organic, the Reptiles scavenge for spare parts-blood, bones, scrap metal, software, hardware-and they will do anything to get inside the dome. But until now, they've never been able to breach it. Until now, human defenses have been impenetrable.

But they have found a crack in the armor. A back door. And they're after the one who controls it all...Legion General Riven, Captain Dorn's superior. As a soldier of Neospes, Dorn is sworn to protect her, but betrayal will come in a form he least expects.

And their last line of defense will fall...
