Olivia Sullivan just graduated high school and is about to spend the summer on her dead-end island alone. Her dad's gone, her mum checked out, and her ex-boyfriend and best friend have left the island together. When she finds out Kasey McDonald is also sticking around-the boy she's spent the last eighteen years bickering with-she tells herself she'd rather be alone.
When Kasey's parents leave him to look after the boat docks for the summer, he makes a pact with Olivia; if she helps him on the docks, he'll show her how to have fun this summer in hopes to forget about everything that's gone wrong the past months. But Olivia knows things Kasey doesn't, and since her dad left, hiding her feelings is what she's best at.
Through uncomfortable parties, boat adventures, and re-discovering her passion for photography, Olivia trusts Kasey with her raw thoughts. But Kasey is also hiding feelings, and it isn't until Olivia is honest with herself about everything that happened this year, that her crossed out thoughts begin to disappear.
