For only having lived in Hawkins for three years, Melody Henderson found it quite peaceful. Other than the occasional cat in the tree or a drug dealer busting the cop car sirens rarely went off. After a year of enduring this hell, Riley is finally able to escape, and return to her life in Hawkins, thinking that she has escaped her landscape of nightmares forever...until a little boy by the name of Will Byers goes missing exactly one year after her escape. Despite the fact that Riley hasn't uttered a word since she returned home, she must rely on the kindness and skill of complete strangers to find Will and rescue him before he falls prey to the Monsters that haunt her mind.
