When Alec is 16 he get sent on a mission without Jace and Izzy to California where he has to change his name, looks, personality, and had to act like he hated sports and wasn't athletic and he never really got changed in front of everyone so no one saw his muscles, after the mission Alec never told anybody what happened to him while he was in California, everything else that happens in the shows did happen.
