Genetics took hold of the population in an unexpected twist, forcing a gradual decline. Overpopulation was now a concern for the government. The Earth was still uninhabitable, possibly guarded by whatever species had attacked the Arks. These are the events that led to the creation, and the collapse, of the Vanguard Objective. This is Ruination.
