Before the apocalypse Negan forces a woman to marry him and birth him a son When the apocalypse happens, Negan tries to raise him as the strongest of all the survivors. But, some wishes don't come true. Once Hunter reaches the age of 18 Negan sends him out to the messed up world of the apocalypse so he learns to fend for himself. When a long stream of events leads Hunter to the gates of Alexandria what will happen?

People move on from whom they were before the Walkers showed up, that was understood. But when someone near and dear to Negan shows up, it has him questioning everything he's done since the Walkers showed up. Will he be the man this person once knew or will he change this person into something more fitting for him? This story adds to Negans backstory and contains flashbacks to his life before the Walkers. Daryl Dixon becomes an important character later in the story.
