"Politica e malaffare", questo è il tessuto sociale che appare oggi colluso. La connessione è diventata inscindibile, indipendentemente dal fatto che trattasi di Mafia, Camorra 'Ndrangheta o altri poteri occulti collaterali, trasversali. Il romanzo si basa su alcuni accadimenti reali. Richiama la corruzione che in questo triste periodo dilaga a vista d'occhio nel nostro Paese e costituisce il male sociale, diffuso a macchia d'olio. Sembra, purtroppo, che i cittadini si siano assuefatti e non si meraviglino oramai più di nulla. Non c'è settore che si salvi. In ogni livello di attività c'è sempre l'astuto di turno, e chi può ruba, inganna, froda, estorce, raggira, per un esclusivo arricchimento e vantaggio personale o di un gruppo stretto malavitoso. Tutto questo sembra avvenga sotto il beneplacito della "Politica" che poco si adopera per sradicare il malaffare. Pure la giustizia sembra avere chiuso gli occhi senza dare certezza all'esecuzione della pena. I personaggi nel romanzo sono principalmente due: un politico, neoeletto deputato con i voti della mafia, e un grosso potente boss siciliano. In tale ambiente criminale, chi "investe" negli affari pubblici deve ottenere i correlativi vantaggi; di contro, chi viene meno ai patti, rischia l'annientamento totale e completo.
