Being the daughter of the City's dictator, she knows too well that the gallows awaits any who associates with the rebel. In an attempt to free herself, she acquires an asset in the form of Runner and finds herself always at the edge, for if he survives it means freedom for both, but if he dies...

A teenager gets falsely accused of murder in a future megacity where your personal data is the primary evidence used to convict in lieu of hard evidence. She joins up with an employee of the large corporation that owns most of the city to try and clear her name before she's arrested by the city guard, sending them both on a journey of self discovery that leads to dark truths and deeper mysteries about not just themselves but the city they call home. I've been working on this book for the past couple of years and have recently finished the latest draft. This is the first and second chapter of the book.

Nova is one of the most experienced members, with three hundred successful missions. That is, until she meets Matteo: a hot, rich Winged with a secret that could change everything. Here's a list of races that live in Neo Caladrius, a fictional megacity set in 2772... #Winged are people with four birdlike wings protruding from their back, a live part of their body implanted at birth to simbolize status, like baptizing a christian baby. #Whithes are people with asian features and blue eyes, a genetic mutation caused by the Pale Parasite epidemic in 2345. #Lunans are people with thick, pale stripes running down their skin and patches of mottled, discolored hair. The patches spread over time, and already white Lunans end up turning a slightly green color before dying. It is progressive, and most only live a few decades. #Archanses are standard humans. #Arxes are a mix of an Archanses with a Whithe or Lunan.

In a dystopian future, an unknown calamity has resulted in the migration of humans into massive cities, where the rich and politically powerful live in luxury while the rest of the citizens deal with shortages of just about everything except bone-crushing poverty. Those not "fortunate" enough to live in the mega-city live in the barren, often poisoned wasteland. Some of the grubbers (those who live outside the city and are forced to grub through the city's garbage to survive) are fortunate enough to have food that they can trade to the city in return for technology and other goods. "Edge City" is a take on the Judge Dredd Mega City concept. The city is the last habitable city on the edge of a radioactive wasteland. This story describes an exchange of goods between the "haves" and the "have nots". Of course, sometimes it is not always easy to tell who has and who doesn't. This story was submitted to a Writer's Digest competition (didn't win).

Magic disappeared. Magic returned. And then, the world ended. This is our world, but not our world. It is a world of islands, floating in the sky. Once there was magic. Then for a time, there was none. And then there was magic again. Once, long ago, magic disappeared from the world so completely that the people who lived then came to believe magic had never been. They were wrong, and magic returned, and those people pridefully fought the very gods in a terrible war, a destructive war, which only ended when the surface of the world had been cracked asunder and cast up into the sky. Now the world is broken into pieces, into separate islands, floating slowly in the sky. Now the people of this age live as best they can, scavenging and fighting and loving, doing all the things people have always done, but now doing those things in the sky. Slowly they are drawn together, and their meeting may save the world. * * * * * So because it turns out if I do normal romance everyone hates me, I’m going to try a couple of different things... So this is fantasy, just because, so... um, here! I’m not sure how it’ll go because I haven’t tried before, but if you’d like to look, then please do! Oh, the odd chapter numbering is because I'm kind of thinking longer chapters, and swapping between the two characters, so 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 are the parts of chapter one and about Sema, and then 2.1 is the start of the actual chapter 2. If that makes sense :) And also, thank you for looking!
