This is a story about Dazai finding Atsushi as a small cub, nurturing him, and helping him grow up. Everyone in this story is the same age as in canon, besides Atsushi, who is around seven years old. This story mainly focuses on Dazai and Atsushi, involving fluff and the occasional violence. Modern documentary series au where the Port Mafia and the Armed Detective Agency have agreed to work with Studio Bones to reassure that they are there to protect the city of Yokohama. Akutagawa has gone on a little rampage, which Mori uses to scare off enemy organizations. Meanwhile, the Armed Detective Agency does its best to reassure Yokohama that they are safe, even with the Port Mafia. In the background, a certain character's mental health slowly decays.

Atsushi falls suddenly ill with a rare form of illness that mainly occurs in animals such as tigers. Dr Yosano has to travel to Africa in order to get an anti-toxin to cure Atsushi. While the doctor is away she told Kunikida and Dazai to watch over the ill boy.
