Prince Basil of the Kingdom of Zadia was born during the war between the Humans of the Kingdom of Vietni and the Changelings of Zadia. In hopes of having Basil escape, his parents send him away to live with the forest spirits in the Dark Forest, where he is raised by the forest creatures. He has no memory of his kingdom or birth parents, but he does know that whoever gave him the gemstone necklace he has worn since he could remember must've loved him enough to make such a thing for him..
