Rating: Teen (violence, death, apocalyptic themes)
In 2032, the sky burns. When the Eagle Nation and the Great Bear Nation unleash radioactive biotoxins on the world, the Great Tea Empire falls in a single day of fire and glittering ash.
Laura and Launa, twin schoolgirls from Brycgstow* and lifelong orphans, survive only because a forgotten WW2 shelter keeps their class alive through the first brutal shockwaves. But as their teachers and friends begin to die from the invisible poison in the air, one terrifying truth emerges: the twins aren't getting sick at all.
Forced out into a dead and dust-choked England, Laura-outgoing, athletic, obsessed with military history and maths-and Launa-quiet, brilliant with chemistry and electronics-must scavenge food, dodge desperate survivors, and navigate a landscape where rescue never comes. Their strange immunity makes them both a miracle and a target, especially when they discover whispers of a hidden research facility called Ark... and hints that orphans like them were never as "ordinary" as they were told.
As the remnants of the Great Tea Empire struggle to rise from the ashes, Laura and Launa must decide what to do with the secret in their blood: hide it, run from it... or turn it into the weapon that might save what's left of humanity.
I have shifted this story from the real world to 'Blue Star' a fictional planet.
