Before the waves, before all the pain and suffering, before the Others destroyed everything; Ben Parish had only one thing on his mind. Her name was Dakota Joseph and she was the most beautiful specimen Ben had ever laid eyes on. After the waves Dakota saw herself as another one of the Others overlooked scraps, the plate of leftovers that you pick at when there's nothing else to eat. Not even good enough for them to finish her off in the first four waves. Ben had a different theory, a more confident perspective. The others weren't eliminating the toughest ones first and then weeding out the stragglers. Instead they were getting rid of the weak ones so they could get to the real fighters, separating the wheat from the chaff. What the others didn't understand about wiping out an entire species is that after you take the first ones out, you're going to be left with some pretty pissed off remainders. And they're going to come at you with everything they've got because they have nothing else to lose. Whether they identify themselves as scraps or survivors they are coming and they will be the perfect human weapon in this formerly hopeless war. This story is being discontinued but you're more than welcome to read what's already there!

This is my version of what happens after the first movie in the series The 5th Wave... The 1st wave: It was a like a switch with clicked off and the power was gone, out like a light. The 2nd wave: Earthquakes which caused major natural disaster - I doubt there were many survivors out on the coast where the tsunamis rolled tall. The 3rd wave: The enemies multiplied one of the most threatening diseases by causing the birds of the earth to carry them around the world; there were 75 birds for each human one average - now I can't imagine how those numbers differ. The 4th wave: The 'Others' were among us, and they had gained the ability to posess the human body, meaning you couldn't trust anyone. The 5th wave: It was meant to be the final wave, but we changed that. The miltary forces turned out to be controlled by the Others and they manipulated kids to follow orders - they had to kill the survivors of the first four waves. The kids were unaware that they were innocent, thinking that the humans were others as a result of the new technology supplied by their leaders. The 6th Wave: Maybe it can be prevented, or maybe its inevitable. Who knows what will happen? I am Cassie Sullivan, and I am a survivor of the 5 waves, along with my new squad: Sammy (my beloved six-year-old brother), Ben Parish (my high school crush), Ringer, Dumbo, Teacup and Poundcake.
