Corfu Stories

Set in ancient Greece, on the island of Kerkyra (modern-day Corfu). The core of this short story revolves around the tragic destiny of a humble shepherd surrounded by his son's need for vengeance. At the same time the island comes to life in a zealous support helped by the cicadas' chants.

In November 1999 I packed all my belongings into a small car and set off from England, home, and everything familiar, to start a new life on the Greek island of Corfu. If you've ever wondered what it's like to go live on a Greek island, here it is. The ups. The downs. The good. The bad. The funny. The not so funny. Several parts of this account were sold to magazines and online sites. Part of it won a competition. Mainly, writing it day by day helped me stay sane. Every summer, Corfu island attracts thousands of tourists and has become a favorite destination for summer holidays. The historical and religious monuments, the picturesque villages, the beautiful nature and the hospitality of the locals offer memories difficult to forget.
