The end of freshmen year approaches at Gotham Academy for Karsyn Williams. Her life has gone back to normal for the most part. She has a good group of friends at school, a team that understands her, and an adoptive father that loves her. Just as summer starts, a mysterious person begins to message her, forcing her to leave the normal behind once again.

It's been five years since the covert ops team of the Justice League was formed. A lot can happen. A lot has happened. Death, loss, pain, betrayal, happiness, joy, love, and excitement as team members come and go. Even with all this excitement, even with all that's going on, and with all the new friends and teammates and proteges, the team's original nine members can't help but feel like something is missing. It doesn't help that when Blue Beetle, aka Jaime Reyes, and his best friend the Brass Beetle, join the team towards the end of the year 2015, there is something distinctly familiar about the two, even though the teens insist that they've never personally met any of the heroes before.
