The Twelve Ancient Clans of Earth once ruled over the Human race, ruling the earth from coast to coast, sea to sea, but their rule finally came to an end with a self destructive series of wars and conflicts lasting for centuries. The Human race rose as the clans fell, and in the shadow of the human race the clans found peace, however you can't hide in the shadows forever.
