"Ryo-chan?" A little black haired girl looked up to her best friend. "What is it, Asu-chan?" A little boy with black hair asked, his innocent gold-like eyes stared at her. "We'll be best friends forever, right?" The little girl asked, her blue eyes shining with slight worry. Ryoma gave her a soft smile and patted her head. Mika Tsubasa, a very quiet, gorgeous and mature girl is the best friend of Ryoma Echizen, the Prince of Tennis. Mika's mother had died giving birth to her and her dad had died in a fire. Mika had been living with the Echizens for a while and decided to move back to Japan with them. She becomes friends with all the regulars on the tennis team at her and Ryoma's new school Seigaku. All the regulars love Mika but she seems to be hiding something from them. Why is she so knowledgable of tennis? Why does she always seem tense when people talk about the famous, anonymous Phoenix of Tennis?

At the culture festival, the mysterious girl Shin shows up. In a tennis booth, she shows her abilities in tennis, but just after that, she disappears. But for some reason, the sight of her eyes remains in their memories. Three years later, she shows up again when the team has moved to the high school division of Seishun Academy.
