For years, Draco Malfoy and Veda Hawthorne have been compared to one another. Same blood status. Same House. Same arrogance. Same talent for making enemies. Draco is used to being the one people are intimidated by. Veda has never been one of them. If anything, she seems to enjoy knocking him down a peg, which only makes him more determined not to let her get the better of him. By fourth year, their rivalry is practically Hogwarts folklore. But when Draco begins noticing the cracks beneath Veda's carefully maintained reputation, the line between knowing someone and understanding them starts to blur. Neither of them is particularly happy about it.
