Charlotte Hampstead, a Baron's daughter, has absolutely no luck: especially in the husband hunting department. She can't play the harp, can't dance and certainly can't sing. Her only saving grace is the positively enormous dowry, but she refuses to marry any old fortune hunter whilst she's half in love with her childhood friend. Tommy Greene, Earl of Essex, is in a little bit of a pickle. He inherited a title, and all the debts with it. He's been in London for five whole years, but not one of the skittish schoolroom chits can he see as wife, and he needs an heiress desperately. Unless- there's been rumours of a priceless Shakespeare manuscript and the Essex family hidden around the Essex Estate: if he can find it, well there'd be more than enough money to pay off his Father's gambling debts and live in comfort. It's just the matter of finding it, and he not falling in love with his friend's little sister whilst doing so.

What could possibly go wrong next? With the recent drama of his family behind him, Lucas Bywood wants nothing more than to stay out of trouble and pretend he is not pining over the absent Miss Darkin. What better plan than to visit Bath, the largest social town outside of London? However, it quickly becomes apparent he has picked the wrong friend as a traveling companion. Mr. John Ward has eyes only for the card tables and shows no interest in shielding Lucas from Bath's debutantes and matchmaking mamas on the hunt for a bachelor. But matters shift from annoying to alarming when Ward's determination to seek justice gets them both suspected of murder. As they say, "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry" and Lucas' plans weren't terribly well-laid to begin with...

A guide to Regency England for readers of classic literature or historical fiction set in the early 19th century. England, as it was in the early 1800's, can sometimes be as confusing to a modern reader as travelling to a foreign country. Their clothes, manners, methods of transport, money and even some words they used can be unfamiliar to us today. I hope this book will grow into a helpful source of reference for any reader who is exploring the classic authors, like Jane Austen and Maria Edgeworth, or enjoying the wide range of early 19th century set historical stories found here at Wattpad.

"It's not right that we should have to fight for something so obviously right and just as having the vote but we must. Someone must!" Lady Anastasia Banks has lived her entire life thus far in a world where she may do as she likes, be it running around the countryside with her cousins or sitting quietly in a secluded corner, immersed in a book about the flora and fauna of her home county of Kent. But with her 'coming out' only a year away, Anastasia gradually realises her future will be quite different. And she's not sure if she'll like it. Thrust into the world of Edwardian high society and faced with an impossible choice, Anastasia comes to see that perhaps life isn't so simple and fair as she once thought. In her frustration, she comes across a group of ladies who promise to help her... to help all women.

Lady Madeline Lucretia Sinclair's very proper maternal grandmother Lady Lucretia Beckham Knott advises her that all a gentleman needs from a lady to offer for her is a little encouragement from that lady. But then again, it is encouragement that a lady must refrain from lest an unsuitable or undesirable gentleman press his suit upon her. But therein lies the crux of Lady Madeline's dilemma. How does a lady become sufficiently acquainted with a gentleman in order to discern if she wants to encourage him--without first seeking him out for conversation or dancing, and without seeming to encourage him before her mind is made up? And when her heart has chosen, but his has not, how does she help him find his heart's desire? These will be the riddles that Lady Madeline must find the answers to for her happily ever after.
