A deadly virus known as ROLV-22 or rolvidavirus that is spread through direct contact (saliva, blood, etc) that has become a worldwide pandemic, causing the infected to go through various stages of psychosis before death. With a death toll of almost 2 million people in the US alone, the country is on lockdown. Juniper Willows is a 17-year old girl who just wanted a normal life: that is..before she knew that not everything is what it seems. During a food run for her little brother and her mother, Juniper gets caught in the middle of an execution being committed by government officials when they deemed the civilians were becoming too rowdy while fuming over the limited supplies in the market. Only a few inches away from death, she gets thrown out of the way by a mysterious and familiar stranger, Roman Parker.
