I asked the others to take his body to the hospital. They rushed the stretcher inside, and within seconds, doctors started gathering around me. Just then, he arrived my husband. His eyes scanned me from head to toe before he walked straight to me, held my hand, and said softly, "Are you okay? Let me check." I looked at him, then pointed towards the man lying motionless on the stretcher and said, "Mujhe woh zinda chahiye." He followed my gaze. As he raised his hand, his fingers brushed against my head wet with blood. His expression changed instantly. "Pehle tumhe zarurat hai," he said firmly. I lost control. I grabbed his collar and shouted, "Mujhe woh kisi bhi haal mein zinda chahiye!" He froze. For the first time ever, I saw anger in his eyes raw, sharp, unfamiliar. He had never looked at me like that before. He turned away and shouted, "Prepare for surgery!" He pulled my hand off his collar and walked away, his voice echoing down the corridor, "Dr. Ananya, examine SHO now." I glared at his back, my chest heaving. A doctor approached me immediately and gently guided me towards a cabin.
