And when I finally walked away, I was still in love with him. Two years later, I still miss the boy in the rain. But I'd rather miss him forever than become the girl I was when I loved him. He conquered her kingdom. She was born to end his reign. Neither was told the truth. For a century, Eldrath and Ravenmere have been trapped in a war written in prophecy and paid for in blood. King Verek Draven is ruthless, feared, and determined to keep the kingdom he conquered under his control. Princess Aeryn Valoria has lost her home, her people, and nearly everything she was born to inherit. But she has not forgotten what was taken from her. And she has no intention of forgiving the king responsible. She was raised to believe that Verek would destroy her. He was taught that she would be the death of him. Their dragons are bound to their riders by a bond older than either kingdom. Their prophecies seem undeniable. Their hatred runs generations deep. But the truth behind the war is far more dangerous than either of them knows. Because if one of them dies, the consequences could reach beyond their kingdoms. And the closer Aeryn gets to the king she swore to destroy, the harder it becomes to tell the difference between destiny, deception, and the one choice neither of them was supposed to make. Some prophecies are warnings. Others are weapons.
