Some memories are meant to stay buried. Some people make you remember. Esra thought she had left figure skating behind. At twenty-four, the former Turkish skater has built a quiet life away from the ice after an injury ended her career years ago. So when she agrees to work behind the scenes at an international skating masterclass in Istanbul, she expects long days, difficult logistics, and nothing more. She certainly doesn't expect Eteri Tutberidze. Cold, demanding, and impossible to read, Eteri is the last person Esra imagined becoming interested in. But somewhere between late nights at the rink, shared hotel rooms, flights to Antalya, quiet conversations, and moments neither of them can quite explain, the distance between them begins to disappear. Then Eteri remembers. 2011. A young Turkish skater. A competition. A fleeting moment on the ice that Esra had long forgotten-but Eteri never quite did. Now, years later, an old memory is becoming something neither of them can ignore. A story about the past returning when you least expect it, the intimacy of being truly seen, and two people discovering that sometimes the person you remember is the person you were always meant to find again.

The federation calls us a perfect arrangement. I call her my coach. Sylvia, a 20-year-old American exchange student, arrives in Moscow feeling swallowed by the gray, cold city. Her Soviet-block apartment is beige and clanking; her Russian fails in real life. She gravitates to a small coffee shop three blocks from campus, where she takes the same window table. The tired barista, Rosalina, eventually offers her morning shifts. Sylvia accepts. On her first days behind the counter she serves a tall blonde woman in a long black coat: flat white, extra shot, no sugar. The woman barely looks up from her phone, notes that "the milk is good," and leaves. The two-second glance rearranges something in Sylvia. She cannot stop replaying it. A jammed library printer introduces her to four figure skaters-Annika, Jelena, Nadia, and Sofie. They fold her into their orbit with teasing, lunch, and a group chat that quickly become friends. They invite her to watch a closed practice at Sambo-70. The rink is professional, the ice luminous, the girls Olympic-level. Then the doors open and the woman from the coffee shop walks in: Eteri Tutberidze, their coach. ‼️Disclaimer : This book is not between Eteri or any of her students whatsoever. I find such fictions wrong, and my fictitious is between characters that are completely made up.

When nine-teen-year-old American figure skater Adeline Starkov leaves everything behind to train in Russia, she knows she's stepping into the most ruthless skating system in the world. Her dream is simple: become an Olympic champion. The cost is something she never imagined. Her new coach, Eteri Tutberidze, is a legend-brilliant, demanding, and feared by every athlete who steps onto her ice. She builds champions through relentless discipline, emotional distance, and impossible expectations. To survive, Adeline must sacrifice comfort, friendships, and even parts of herself. As the only American in an academy filled with Russian prodigies, Adeline becomes an outsider. Every mistake is criticized. Every success breeds jealousy. Under Eteri's cold gaze, she transforms from an inconsistent artistic skater into a genuine Olympic contender. But beneath the icy façade, Adeline catches glimpses of the woman no one else sees-a lonely perfectionist haunted by her own past. The more time they spend together, the thinner the line between admiration and love becomes. Their growing feelings are dangerous. A coach and her student can never have a future, especially under the relentless scrutiny of the skating world. Rumors spread, rivals plot against Adeline, and every victory brings them closer to a scandal that could destroy both of their careers. As the Olympic season approaches, Adeline must choose between the gold medal she has chased her entire life and the woman who taught her what it truly means to fight for something worth losing everything. In a world where perfection is demanded and weakness is unforgivable, love may be the greatest risk of all.
