Arundhati Shah's life is perfectly ordinary, until a mysterious letter sealed with impossible wax arrives on a Tuesday morning. The letter that tells her she's been accepted to Devas Academy of Divine Arts and Celestial Warfare. The letter that reveals the magical world her exiled mother has kept hidden for fourteen years. Aru's mother, Krithika Shah, was once part of magical society, until she fell in love with the wrong man, got pregnant, and was stripped of her powers in front of the entire Magical Council. Exiled. Bound. Used as a cautionary tale whispered to young girls: Don't end up like Krithika Shah. Now Aru must enter the world that destroyed her mother, knowing nothing about her dead father except his name: Suyodhana. Knowing she'll be judged instantly for her mother's "shame." Knowing that magical society is obsessed with bloodlines, hierarchy, and keeping the "pure" families in power. At Devas Academy, everything depends on your heritage. The Cosmic Mirror sorts students into houses based on their bloodline: Chandra for the pure-blooded elite, Agni for demon-descended warriors, Vayu for celestial servants, and Surya for everyone else-the orphans, the unknown, the undesirable. Everyone assumes Aru will end up in Surya, if she's allowed to attend at all. But Aru has six weeks to prepare. Six weeks to learn everything about a society designed to reject her. Six weeks to memorize the names of powerful families, the complex web of alliances, and the devastating truth about what happened to the Vajra bloodline, the legendary family that went mysteriously extinct a hundred years ago, leaving their perfect matches, the Acharyas, mourning the loss of their greatest allies. Once upon a time, Arundhati Shah was the girl who believed in soulmates, reincarnations, and second chances, the girl who loved Aiden Acharya from the time they were fifteen years old, straight through law school, straight into a ring on her finger and a wedding on the calendar. Now she's just the Ace. Twenty-six years old. Managing partner of her own firm. Harvard undergrad, Yale Law, a hundred percent win record, and a client list of the rich, the ruthless, and the unforgivable. She charges a hundred thousand dollars a case and has never once lost. She's the most feared, and most beautiful, attorney in Manhattan, and everyone from cable news anchors to sitting senators is convinced she's building toward something bigger. A Senate seat, maybe. A legacy. Whatever it is, Aru Shah plans to win it the way she wins everything: alone. She hasn't spoken to Aiden Acharya in three years. Hasn't spoken to Brynne, or Mini, or Nikita, or Sheela. Hasn't let herself look at a single headline about the boy who once sacrificed his life for her, who built a hundred borrowed dollars into a media empire. Now Aiden's a billionaire CEO with the kind of face that stops elevators and the kind of company that makes front-page news, and he's just been arrested for the murder of his own best friend and co-founder, Marcus Wren. Every piece of evidence says he did it. Every lawyer in the city says the case is unwinnable. His own board is drafting his replacement before the trial even starts. And the only people left standing beside him are the two friends who once chose his side over hers, desperate, out of options, and about to do the one thing Aru swore she'd never let them do again: bring her back into his orbit. Because there's exactly one attorney in New York with a record good enough to save him. And she used to be the love of his life.

Aru Shah's life was already chaotic. College finals. Overprotective friends. A family that went from "comfortable" to obscenely wealthy in two years. Then her father drops the real bomb. She's getting an arranged marriage. Not for love. Not even for tradition. But to save the family company from collapsing under secrets she doesn't fully understand. The alliance is supposed to be practical. Strategic. Temporary. So why does it feel like Aru is the one being traded? Back home, tensions run high. Contracts are signed. Expectations grow heavier. And every decision Aru makes seems to tie her tighter to a future she didn't choose. If this is her inheritance, she's not sure she wants it. ☆☆☆ Read my other stories :) *CHARACTERS ARE NOT MINE AND BELONG TO ROSHANI CHOKSHI*

Aru Shah wasn't remotely in the place to have another relationship, much less settle down and start a family. Heartbroken from her ex boyfriend attempting to cheat on her with her older sister Kara, another relationship was way out of the question. Aiden Acharya had never wanted to get married. He had never thought about it seriously, because that was dangerous. It was dangerous to think that he could get married, because the more he put into people, the more terrifying it was. Risking being anything like his dad was too much to ask for, so he would play it safe. So when the only match that Aru and Aiden's mom bring home happen to be eachother, the boy Aru has hated since middle school for reasons that shall not be disclosed, and the girl Aiden has always found a little strange and who has also hated him since middle school for reasons he was unaware of, it became even more unlikely that they would get married. But both succumb to the pressure of their family, and both agree to meet eachother, eventually concocting a plan to fake date eachother so their parents realize how horribly suited they are for marriage- and for eachother. One thing leads to another, and both Aru and Aiden find themselves wrapped up in a rollercoaster of secrets, built up emotion, and unanswered questions. Can they find their own version of forever together? "and i never knew i could feel that much, and that's the way i loved you..."- the way i loved you by taylor swift (a/n): these characters and select plot points are not mine! this is a fanfic/AU based off of the pandava quintet/aru shah series by roshani chokshi! everything that she has rights over belong to her!! and yes, this is very much based off of the way i loved you by taylor swift:) -samhita ❤️
