(My first language is not English, so please, feedback is well appreciated, but keep in mind and bare with me! I am a Danish teenage girl, aspiring to become an author or actress!) After her father dies, fifteen year old Peyton Freja Mae leaves Sweden for an exchange year in South Carolina, mostly because the plan had already existed long before everything in her life started falling apart. Charleston feels unreal from the second she arrives. Too bright. Too hot. Too loud. Nothing like the quiet outskirts of Stockholm she grew up in. Then there's the Foresters. The family her father used to talk about before he died. A beach house on Folly Beach. Shared music rooms. Boat days. Country clubs. Late night drives. People who somehow make space for her before she even knows what to do with it. Especially Matthew Forester. Quiet in a way that hides more than it says. The kind of person who notices things without acting like he does. What was supposed to be one temporary year slowly turns into something else entirely. Because somewhere between music, beaches, grief, friendship, and the version of herself she left behind in Sweden, Peyton starts realizing that home is a much more complicated thing than she thought. A slowburn coming of age story about first love, found family, music, and learning how to live again after loss.

A reflective and heartfelt coming-of-age narrative, following Isabel as she navigates the quiet tension at home with her withdrawn sister Maddie, the routines of school life, and the unexpected arrival of Nathan, a new student who sparks curiosity and subtle attraction. Amid the ordinary rhythms of friendship, family, and adolescence, Isabel quietly discovers change, connection, and the small moments that make growing up both challenging and tender.
