Skylar is just a regular boy - until his mother signed him up as a participant for Riley's master thesis project. What starts as a reluctant promise quickly turns into a daring journey beyond his comfort zone. From painted nails to pink tops, from shopping trips to pleated skirts, Skylar is pushed to question everything he thought he knew about being a boy. At first, it's embarrassing. Then confusing. Then... strangely exciting. With each diary entry, Skylar uncovers parts of himself he never dared to explore. Is it just clothes-or something deeper shifting inside him? Riley insists it's about breaking barriers, not changing who he is. But when the mirror starts reflecting a version of himself he can't ignore, Skylar must decide what that means. Caught between fear, curiosity, and unexpected joy, his world begins to blur. This is a story about identity, courage, and discovering that sometimes the scariest step is simply being yourself.

Growing up is difficult. The body goes through changes. Hormones mess with you. Everyone gets bullied at one point by someone. For Zora, it was worse. Not only was she bullied at school, she was bullied at home, abused by her father. She was a disgrace in everyone's eyes. Constantly suffering, she needed something that would give her hope and make her feel good about herself. Though it caused her to be bullied even more, she didn't care. She would live her life out and proud as a woman, despite how everyone saw her as a man. Hope meant nothing to her until the day her father died, prompting her to move in with her mother and stepbrother in New York, away from her transphobic community in Georgia. But moving didn't mean everything would suddenly get better. Dealing with transphobic bullies and a stepbrother who doesn't understand who she is, Zora worried she'd always endure constant ridicule. But moving somewhere new could lead to better things, like an accepting mother, friends, and a boy who finds her to be the most beautiful girl alive. Change meant new things were going to come, and if the world wasn't going to change for her, she'd have to change it herself. "I don't care that she's transgender. I'm completely fine with that. I accept her 100%." I smiled, the tears moving from fat drops to a river-like rush. The sun caught in my eyes and blurred my vision. That was okay because all I could see was Maddie. "She's a girl, period... and she's breathtakingly gorgeous," I whispered. Written by #ownvoices non-binary author Riley Rian, "I Love You Just the Way You Are," is about a transgender girl and her love interest. It's a story written from the heart of someone who wishes they would have had this when they were a teenager. @rileyrianbooks on Instagram. @riley_rian_books on TikTok. If you enjoy it please leave me a review! And keep your eyes out for the sequel about Maddie's twin sibling, Charlotte, in "I've Been Waiting All Along." Coming early 2023.
