"He glanced around the kitchen, scanning the state-of-the-art worktops, the assortments of cookbooks strewn everywhere and the various baking ingredients that were cluttering the shelves. 'So,' he asked, obviously impressed, 'you cook?' I nodded, a smug smile set upon my face. 'Well then, I'll have you know, I like my eggs sunny side up, honey!'" ~*~*~ Twenty year-old Noelle McQueen was happy with her life. Having just finished school and moving out, things were pretty much perfect in Noelle's opinion. That was, until she had to find a roommate - and fast! #1 Teen Fiction | #1 Young Adult | #1 Romance "We all need someone to drive us mad." - The Wombats. He stared arrogantly down at me, a smirk plastered across his face. I sneered up at him with distaste, wanting to wrap my fingers around his neck and strangle that smirk off of him. He brushed my golden hair from my face, his long, slender fingers sparking electricity in my skin, making my knees wobble together. "Will you ever, forgive me?" he whispered huskily, his eyes intently staring into mine. His face was only mere inches from me. I just needed to reach out a little further to kiss him... "Yeah. Over my dead body." I snapped, before throwing my arms out forcefully, shoving my hands into his chest, pushing him from me. -*-*-*- He, is Carter Williams. I, am Lacey Adams. We were once, inseparable. The 'Golden Couple'. The unbreakable best friends, that everybody envied. Nothing could get between us. A part from being tighter than white on rice, we updated our status from friends to being in a relationship, frequently. We were neighbours, which meant our families were all close and even co-owned houses around our town. This, all is, until the day of my sixteenth birthday. Everything changed. The loving relationship we shared, was severed and torn apart. I couldn't hardly stand to look at him any more, without spitting fire that is. Every day is torture being around him. He was in all my classes at school and the window in my room was even directly aligned with his. So, what happens? My mother's mum gets sick, so dad and her fly out. Just them. Leaving me to stay with Carter and his parents, who are never home. We would be alone. In one house. Under the same roof. If I was insane before, I have no idea what I am now. © 2016 by LaurenJ22. [NOTE: This book was written in 2010, a time of long-distance phone cards, weight-loss obsessions, and searching for a man as a solution to life's problems-what a messy time to be alive! In other words, I hope you enjoy this throwback, and while this book does end on a cliffhanger of sorts, the sequel addresses any unanswered questions (which is hopefully fair, given that book 1 is free, ya know?] An awkward family homecoming at Christmas. A humiliating public weigh-in, with two judging parents as the audience. The announcement of a deadline for arranged marriage doom. And that's just the first two chapters. In "Year of the Chick," Romi Narindra must find love before her parents find her a husband. Easy to say, less easy to live through, as this book takes you deep inside "awkward Indian living in the West." To escape her fate, Romi wades through the waters of secret-dating, where self-consciousness is at an all-time high, and experience at an all-time low. It's the sort of thing that would turn almost anyone into a man-crazy freak with romance tunnel-vision, and that's exactly what ends up happening. All the while, a lack of inspiration in her corporate job leads Romi to her love of writing, in what quickly becomes a man-quest play-by-play. From whiskey-breath scum bags to uni-brow creeps and everything in between, Romi and her wingmen come up empty time after time. And that's when she meets a fellow writer. On the Internet. So will it be arranged marriage doom, or an Internet affair that's not as creepy as "To Catch a Predator"? Time will tell in the "year of the chick," a twelve-month quest to find love. Tick-tock. --------------------------------------------- "Year of the Chick" is book one of a series, and book two is available at Amazon! LENGTH: 75,000 words or 285 pages DISCLAIMER: this book contains profanities, blunt accounts of the dating scene, and many awkward family moments. Enjoy!

My name is Julie Quinn and I've been a New Yorker all my life. Life was good. I was swamped with work doing a job that I loved and I was dating the best boyfriend I'd ever had the pleasure to. I have always been a strong-willed and independent woman - or as my best friend puts it "control freak" - and even more after the accident, but what happened on the eve of my 30th birthday was enough to bring down Wonder Woman.

Addison isn't your average princess; she yearns for adventure, not stuck in a palace waiting for prince charming. After her father announces that she will be set to get married soon, and her so-called best friend has turned into a noble hypocrite, Addison has had about enough with her life. And then few interesting things happen that get her wound up, disguised as a boy and on an adventure she has only dreamed about. She soon begins her journey for the six imperial stones, following the two outcasts Lance and Collin, who seem like they came straight from Robin Hood. ▬▬▬ I am VERY much inspired by many things but what inspired me most for this story is Esther Friesner, and her Princesses of Myth series, I've read the books many times and i absolutely love them. This story is alot like it but it also has alot of differences, so check it out! :}

"Stop stealing my food." I glared at him but I knew he could see I was joking. A smile appeared on his face as I knew he had an idea. That's Never Good. "Here have it back." Carter opened his mouth and spit out chewed apple all over the floor. I didn't know weither to be angry or just plain disgusted. Carter burst out laughing and I couldn't help the edges of my mouth to twitch. Don't laugh, just keep a straight face Rose. I kept my face expressionless as I squatted down to the chewed apple remains on the floor and scooped it up in my hand. Carter stopped laughing once he saw what I was about to do. I threw the chewed apple at him, landing right on his face. Bulls-eye. There was about a two second silence before I bursted out laughing, clutching my sides at the comical sight in front of me. A look of shock and rage was present on Carters face and I could almost see a purple vain in his forehead throb. Of course this made me laugh twice as hard. I was struggling to breathe as Carter slowly wiped the apple of his face and glared me down. "You do know you picked up something that was in my mouth, right?" Carter remarked. How did I not think of that? Who knows what has been in Carters mouth! Or should I say, Who has been in Carter's mouth. I cringed and wiped my hands on Carter. He could have his disgusting germs back. "You do know you are just adding more of my germs if you rub it off on me." He said slowly as if I was a child. "Well isn't someone smart today? Wait you said we were late for school! We are definitely late now!" "Calm your pantyhose, I lied to get you out of bed." Carter smiled. "Wow, that must be a change from you lieing to get women Into bed." I said before walking out the front door. I got into my car but not before earning a middle finger from Carter. Isn't he charming?
