--- Time can be changed but reality is always fixed. --- The year is 2030, Bellatrix Fitzpayn is about to discover the true reality of her family, how they aren't just hippies living from the land, but humans that possess magical powers. But she only learns because the source of them is dying, and she is tasked with saving it. Bellatrix must visit the year 1941, to get clippings of her great-grandfather's magical trees to revive the ones that they care for in 2030. But she is just eighteen, she hasn't completed her training, nor does she understand the reality of what she is doing. As she sets off on her adventure, chanting the song to take her back, she trips and falls. Bellatrix doesn't arrive in 1941 like planned, instead, she arrives in 1914, to a world that she wasn't prepared for, in a location that wasn't intended. The watch that sent her back in time is cracked before her, in need of repair. Bellatrix has to live in the new world, until she has enough money to repair the piece of equipment. Yet whilst there, she meets a man, Thomas Shelby, who simply takes her breath away. It's against the law of time travel, but she can't help but be enticed by him.

It is said that Scotland is a magical place, that its history is tightly intertwined with legend. About twenty miles from Culloden Moor there is a small village. long forgotten the stones crumbling and the green moss and bracken slowly reclaiming the rocks as the mortar turns to dust. The thatched roofs long ago rotted away. The tiny cottages make a pretty picture despite the dark memories and pain they hold in their dank rooms. The despair and loss that was felt at their empty hearths. There was once happiness, and laughter but not after Culloden. Every man from that village left to fight for bonny prince Charlie, and not a one of them returned. Abigail Donivan has learned that she is the last surviving heir to the Donivan clan and as such has inherited the two hundred acre plot of Scottish wilderness, she stumbles across the tumbledown cottages and falls in love with their charm. She works feverishly to restore them to their previous glory (with some modern luxuries) and plans to rent them out like a bed and breakfast. little does she know that there may yet be some magic within the Scottish Stones.
