sunlightwrites | dec 2025 Lorena "Lena" Schuett is an ice-cold business executive who believes that true love is the only foundation for marriage. When her powerful family forces her into an arranged marriage with the Taechamongkalapiwat Group to secure a mega-business deal, Lena is furious. To her, her future wife is nothing more than a stranger-a necessary evil on a contract. However, Lena's intended, Miu Natsha Taechamongkalapiwat, is no stranger at all. Miu has held a deep, secret love for Lena since they were children, a love she has carefully kept hidden. Knowing Lena's hatred for their "cooperative arrangement," Miu vows to approach the marriage with patience and quiet strength, hoping that one day, her efforts will melt the iron resolve of her new wife and show Lena that a true choice of the heart can still bloom, even under a forced vow. This is the story of two girls bound by family legacy, one fueled by contempt, and the other, by devoted, unyielding hope.

In a war-torn Bangkok caught in the sudden crossfire of a European invasion, Duty is the only law Captain Lena Vance has ever known. The top tactical mind of her academy batch, Lena was raised under the strict, watchful eyes of her Military General father alongside two brothers serving in the Navy and Air Force. Trained to be absolute iron against enemies and a gentle shield for civilians, Lena's entire life resolves around protocols, risk assessments, and service. Romance isn't just low on her priority list-it's completely off the map. Enter Miu Tamphom: the Prime Minister's daughter, the country's most sought-after elite woman, and an utterly unstoppable force of nature. Brilliant, sharp-tongued, and fiercely devoted to the people, Miu refuses to cower in secure underground bunkers while her country burns. Instead, she marches straight into high-risk zones to direct hands-on relief efforts. When High Command assigns Lena as Miu's personal bodyguard, two completely opposing worlds collide. To Lena, Miu is an unpredictable operational hazard who refuses to follow simple safety orders. To Miu, Lena is a stiff, overprotective babysitter with a medal on her chest who desperately needs to unclench. But as mortar shells fall and cute, daily bickering turns into life-or-death survival, Lena's unbreakable armor begins to crack-revealing the gentle, fiercely loyal heart hidden beneath. And Miu soon discovers that the most dangerous place to be isn't the frontline... but falling for the soldier assigned to protect her. "She was trained to survive any threat-except the woman holding her heart."

Behind locked doors, Lena is the one making Miu ask nicely. Their arrangement is simple: no labels, just lips. It works perfectly until Miu begins to suspect that "no labels" might be the one rule she no longer wants to keep.

She's the teacher who can't say no. She's the firefighter who runs toward every siren. One pulled the other out of the smoke. Now neither of them can get out of this. Will Angel finally say the one word she's never learned to say? Will Pheem stay, or run toward the next fire? And when love feels this dangerous, is it worth the wait? As if loving were ever easy. WLW · Romance · Slow burn · LenaMiu · English A note on the characters. Pheem and Angel share their portrayers with the leads of the original edition, but they are not the same people. They have their own families, backgrounds and personalities, and should be read as their own characters. The portrayers are a visual reference only, and nothing in this story reflects the real lives of the people behind those faces. This applies to every book in the Siren Universe. About this edition. This is a Thailand-set adaptation of the original story, which was written and set in the Philippines. A note on Thai words As If is set in San Kamphaeng, a small town east of Chiang Mai, in the mountains of northern Thailand. Most conversations happen in Thai and are written here in English. A few Thai words stay because they're part of everyday life: Khru (KROO) means teacher, and it's what students call their teachers, as in Khru Angel. P' (short for Phi) goes before the name of someone a little older than you, the way you'd say big sister or big brother. Kha is the small polite word women put at the end of a sentence. Each chapter opens with a short list of the Thai words it uses.

After losing her sight, Miu thought she had already lost everything. The woman she loved-the woman who was supposed to marry her-walked away when caring for a blind partner became too much. Now, Miu has convinced herself that maybe Ginny was right. Maybe no one could truly love her this way. Then she meets Lena. It starts with a simple encounter at a café, but Lena is different. She doesn't treat Miu like she's fragile. She doesn't see her blindness before she sees her. And, little by little, Lena makes Miu question everything she thought she knew about love, herself, and what she's still capable of feeling. Because sometimes, the person who teaches you that you're worthy of love is the person who never once thought you weren't.

There is a certain kind of magic in being young - when the future feels endless, when every night feels like it could become a memory, and when the people beside you slowly become a part of who you are. At Chantara University, six young women find themselves standing at the beginning of everything. They are learning, dreaming, falling in love, making mistakes, and discovering that growing up is not something that happens all at once. It happens quietly, somewhere between late-night conversations, groceries, crowded streets, unfinished plans, and the moments no one thinks to remember. Somewhere between friendship and love, between who they were and who they are becoming, they begin to understand that youth is not simply about being young. It is about feeling everything for the first time. It is about loving someone before knowing what love asks of you. About friendships that feel eternal. About dreams that change without warning. About the fear of losing people, places and versions of yourself that you thought would last forever. And perhaps most of all, it is about time. Because there will come a day when these nights are over, when the university corridors are empty, when the laughter becomes something remembered rather than lived. But for now, they are here. Young, uncertain, hopeful, reckless and alive - with an entire life waiting ahead of them. Perhaps that is the bittersweet beauty of youth: we spend it wishing to become who we are meant to be, never realising that one day, we will wish we could become who we were again. Because youth does not ask us to stay. It simply gives us a handful of moments, people and memories, and then quietly teaches us how precious they were.
