Last chapter!
I'm sorry for this, guy...

Harry had been on edge all year. He didn't know when Voldemort would attack, but when the last month of school approached, he knew it would be soon.

The last two weeks of school and hell broke loose on Hogwarts. People were dying quickly as death eaters managed to slip in before professors began putting up wards.

Aurors had been called into the school. These also included Sirius, Remus, Tom, and the Weasleys. (Imagine if Charlie had rode into Hogwarts on a dragon and just smashed a bunch of death eaters by landing on them.) He was happy to see them here to help. Harry ran up and hugged his godfathers and Tom before running to help.

He hadn't noticed the trembling in Tom as they hugged.

Nor did he see the sad look Tom was giving him as he ran off to help.

Tom too went to help, but he couldn't shake off the feeling he's had. Especially recently. Now that the day was here, he hoped that he could go through with this.

People were dying on both sides of the war. Harry was convinced he had to die to win, so when he heard Voldemort's voice over everything, he knew he didn't have a choice.

He was stopped by Tom. The older boy pulled Harry in for a kiss. It was longer than it probably should have been, but Harry didn't care. If this was his last day, he was glad he got to kiss Tom one more time.

When he reached the Forbidden Forest, Harry was met with Voldemort and his death eaters. "Ah, yes, Harry Potter," Voldemort said.

"Thought you said you couldn't kill someone your younger self is dating," Harry called out, deciding that if he was going to die, it might as well be from being a smart ass.

"This is different," Voldemort said. "Now I don't care. I'm so close to being able to rule the wizarding world. Avada Kedavra!"

And that's how Harry died in the hands of Voldemort.

Except he realized he didn't when he woke up to Voldemort announcing he was dead. People shouted no. Many he recognized.

After getting annoyed by Voldemort talking so much, Harry rolled out of Hagrid's arms. "Expelliarmus!" Harry shouted at Voldemort, but it was clumsy, only needing to serve as a distraction.

He didn't notice as Tom began walking forward slyly.

"Why won't you just die?" Voldemort asked (I almost wrote "Voldemort asked, pinching the bridge of his nose... Until I remembered.). "AVADA KEDAVRA!"

Harry didn't realize until it was too late that Tom jumped in front of the spell. He watched as Voldemort became visibly weaker. Harry took this opportunity, gaining up all the anger he could muster, then casting the killing curse at Voldemort.

All was silent as the death eaters tried to flee. Harry dropped to his knees next to Tom.

No, this can't be happening, Harry told himself, feeling the tears flowing down his face. No one dared to approach him, knowing they would probably get hexed.

He didn't want to cry in front of everyone, so Harry ran through what was left of Hogwarts and to the boys' dormitory. The first thing that caught his eye was the diary sitting on the middle of the floor. He opened it to the first page.

I'm sorry, Harry. It was the only way that Voldemort would be able to die. But I will always love you. Never forget that.

The message stayed, meaning that the diaries had lost their connection.

Harry sat down at the half broke desk and began writing down every memory he had with Tom so that he'd never forget them. The man he loved so much was gone, and Harry didn't ever want to forget him.

I'm crying. How dare I write this. I'm sorry...

But thank you all for reading. This has been one hell of a journey and I've absolutely loved writing this. Thank you all so much, and I hope you stick around to see more of my stories in the future.
