Hey guys! This chapter and the next chapter will be a bit shorter because they were originally one chapter but I like them more separate. The picture above is a visual, and the YouTube video is a cute intro to a new character I'm bringing in. Also, if you've ever seen the Badass Honey Badger video, keep that narrator's voice in mind while reading for a certain sass machine. Without further ado, here's your chappy!
Harry's POV
Later that night, when I knew Uma wouldn't be anywhere else, I went to her dorm room and knocked on the door. I heard footsteps, and then the sea witch's voice sounded from behind the door, "Who is it?"
"It's me." I said. I didn't need to say my name. How many Scottish guys are visiting her at nine o'clock at night? She didn't reply for a while, and I begged into the closed door, "C'mon Uma, I haven't seen you all day."
I didn't want to straight out confront her about avoiding me. For all I know, I could've been wrong, and it was just bad timing that I hadn't talked to her since yesterday. After another moment of silence, the door clicked and opened to reveal a neutral-faced Uma. "What do you want?" She asked with a bored voice.
"Tomorrow's Sunday." I noted, "We don't have classes, and I don't have practice. I was wondering if you wanted to join me at the aquarium." I didn't dare say the name of the place, King Triton's Underwater Wonders. Uma's eyebrows flicked upward, intrigued at the idea. I smiled nervously, praying that she would say yes, but her interested look faded into suspicion.
"What are you not telling me?" She demanded in a soft yet stern voice, crossing her arms and dropping her hip. I could already tell from general logic that she and Melody wouldn't get along. I mean, if Peter Pan ever grew up, I would probably hate his kids. I tried to sound positive as I confessed, "Melody invited me to go with her, and she said I could bring a friend."
"I'll pass." She replied instantly with a fake smile as she tried to close the door, but I stopped the door from slamming shut. I pushed it back open and gave Uma a pleading look, "Please, Uma? Melody's dad is gonna be there, and I would feel a lot more comfortable if my closest friend was there."
Her shoulders seemed to ease at my comment, and I felt a little bad that it wasn't the main reason I wanted her there. It was somewhat true, but I really just wanted to figure out what her deal was so I could fix it and make it right. I didn't like the silent treatment. She rolled her eyes and look down at the floor before giving in, "Okay fine, I'll go with you."
"Fantastic!" I cheered, taking a step forward. I was going to hug her, but she leaned backward, keeping her distance. I took the hint, cleared my throat, and told her, "I'll drop by your room at ten-thirty tomorrow morning."
"Okay." She replied before I backed out, giving her a small wave. She closed the door, and I let all of my nervous tension out in a deep sigh. I would be lucky if I made it out tomorrow alive.
Uma's POV
My clock read ten-twenty as I got ready for my trip to the aquarium with Harry and Melody, and let's not forgot Melody's father! I had a billion reasons to not go, but I agreed to go because Harry looked at me with puppy-dog eyes. It was a moment of weakness, okay?
There was one other thing that didn't sit well with me. Melody, a princess, could take any prince she wanted to cotillion, but she wanted someone–in her words–edgy. Well, Harry Hook, a villain kid with sword skills and the temper to use them, is pretty damn edgy. Although the Royal Cotillion was a little more than two months away, she probably knows a guy like that would take some time to make a connection with. And how does one vex an aspiring naval recruit? By bringing him closer to her father–the admiral–so his dream then becomes associated with her. This was one big exploitation trick!
