Yoshiteru didn't know how to describe your presence.

It was quite... soothing? The atmosphere around you brought peace to him.

The other servants always kept their distance from him, but you were different. You were the first one to always approach him when no one did. You were the one who always made chit chat with him whenever you were together. You were the one who he sought comfort from when no one was available.

He wasn't familiar with the new feeling coming from within him when you appeared in his life. In fact, with his status, he never expected that he would feel this way. Being in your presence was a wonderful thing for him, but there was one problem:

You were only a simple maid working in the castle.

Yoshiteru knew that as the 'Strongest Shogun', he needed to have a wife of higher status, like a daimyo's daughter. Of course, he could also make you a concubine, but he would never do that. Not to you, who is so special to him.

"Yoshiteru-sama.." The sound of his name coming from you made him turn around. You were given the privilege of calling him by his first name, which was considered to be a great honor by the others. You were carrying a small bag with you, a smile on your face. "I've brought to you something I think you'd like, milord." You said, slowly making your way towards him.

"Oh?" He gave a small smile back, fully turned to you, "What is it?"

You sat in front of him and opened the bag, picking up a small golden treat. "This is bekko-ame. Candy that is easy to make." You picked out another one, this time the candy was shaped like a fish. "It's popular with the children of my village. If it is alright with you, please try some." You said before facing your head down in respect.

The brunet man picked up a piece of candy and put it in his mouth without question. The sweetness exploded in his mouth as he nodded in approval. "It's good." He commented, getting one after another.

When he took a glance at you, he saw that your eyes sparkled in excitement. "Th-thank you, milord! I'm very happy you like it." You did a little bow and happily watched him savor the taste of the sweet treat. "Bekko-ame has been my favorite as a child, you see, so um.. It's nice that you are enjoying it as well."

Yoshiteru gave a polite nod at every story you told. The time when you first tasted the candy, when you learned how to make it, and the time when you perfected it. He enjoyed listening to your voice, something he would surely miss.

In the middle of your storytelling, he cut you off, "(F/N)," He started, looking at you directly in the eyes.

You blinked a few times in confusion at the sudden interruption, but you stared back at him in all seriousness.

"It has become boring here. I'll be leaving for the outside tomorrow." Yoshiteru said, putting a hand on your shoulder. "Do not say a word of this to anyone else, understood?"

"....Yes, Yoshiteru-sama." You agreed. You frowned at the thought of him becoming bored when you were with him, but who were you to talk? You were free to do errands outside of the castle walls, freely talking to others as you pleased while no one talked to the shogun unless they were to give status reports or something along the lines of that. Surely it would get boring seeing the same sights everyday, right?

"I cannot promise you that I will come back. I am sure that I will have the time of my life out there, however.." He paused, the grip on your shoulder getting a bit tighter. "I ask that you stay with me here. For the rest of the day." Yoshiteru pulled you closer to him and trapped you in his embrace.

You quietly hummed in agreement as you gripped tightly on the fabric of his clothing.

The castle was in utter chaos as servants ran around the halls, searching frantically for a missing shogun.

"Ashikaga-sama!" They desperately called out, some even tripping over their feet in their search.

You were calm in the situation, continuing on with your work as if nothing ever happened. You heard the barking of orders to search for him outside the castle, and you let out a small smile.

"I hope you find your happiness, Yoshiteru-sama." You whispered. It was a wish that no one else but you heard.

The soft rustling of clothes woke you up from your slumber. You opened your eyes to see Yoshiteru dressed up in battle attire, carrying his weapon on his back.

In his hands was the bag of bekko-ame as he walked out of the room, not looking back.
