When Rose Thane is forcibly taken from school to a mysterious military base known as "Base 8," she finds herself lost and confused. With no answer as to why she is there, she feels like she is slowly losing her mind. However, when she begins to hear a voice in her mind, she is sure she has in fact lost it. That is until a lab accident leads to her introduction to Specimen X. Otherworldly, Speciman X seems more human than alien and seems to be drawn to her in an inexplicable way. Rose slowly finds herself wondering if she is losing it, or if maybe this specimen is her entire reason for being there.
