His eyes darkened. Voice rough with desire, he warned, "Don't tempt me, mortal."

Before, his angered state would've served to draw me to line, but today I found it only aroused me. Voice breathy, I said, "Or else what, master?"

The vampires have invaded earth, leaving mortals with nothing but their names and the mere clothes on their backs. Humans are being sent to special schools to be trained in the art of serving vampire masters and their various Houses. Amongst these mortals is a girl named Eleanor. She is unaware of her royal bloodline or of who her father is, and because of this, fate throws her and Sebastian, a very powerful vampire lord, together.
