Shane was an alcoholic haunted by his past and the death of his best friend. Polly was a perfectionist that coped with her trauma through unhealthy methods. They were a mystery to each other, confusing and intriguing. They stumbled into each other's lives inadvertently, but the damage was permanent. Two broken individuals can heal each other, but in other cases can hurt each other. But perhaps this is what the two of them needed: a reason to recover.
