Prologue

Miranda hasn't been the same since her foster parents abandoned her, depression's a dog nipping at her ankles and life's a weight that gets heavier on her shoulders every day. All she wants is change, a miracle, even if it isn't a good one.

Soon after moving in with her third aunt Dr. Ellie Staple, she meets Elijah Prince, a man who sees right through her perfect facade and offers to be her mentor. As she starts to allow it to creep to the surface, she decides to take action on her interest in another one of her aunt's patients: Kevin.
